His Eminence Dr. Nazir Ayad – Mufti of the Republic, President of the General Secretariat of the Ifta Organizations in the World – received today, Mr. Dr. Abdul Qader Sheikh Ismail, President of Imam Al-Shafi’i University in Somalia; to look for ways to strengthen cooperation between the Egyptian Ifta House and the university, especially in the fields of training and combating extreme thinking.
During the meeting, His Eminence Mufti emphasized the depth of historical relations between Egypt and Somalia, pointing out that these relations are deeply rooted in history, where joint efforts continue to foster cooperation in various fields, particularly in legal and religious spheres. His Eminence said: “The Egyptian-Somali cooperation is the embodiment of the values of brotherhood and mutual support between the two countries, and we are ready to provide all aspects of scientific, legal and qualification support to Imam Al-Shafi’i University in Somalia.”
As Fadila Mufti talks about the “Peace for Extremism Studies and Combating Islamophobia” Center, which follows the Egyptian Dar Ifta, it is clear that the Center seeks to study the phenomenon of extremism and develops curriculum to combat and prevent it, and aims to promote the philosophy of the Egyptian State and Dar Ifta in addressing extreme and extremism thought. His Eminence Mufti emphasized the importance of confronting extreme thought and extreme groups that threaten the stability of communities.
His Eminence noted that the administration of the Dar Iftaa training means training and training of Muftins, and it has training programs spanning three years aimed at preparing a generation of qualified scholars to confront extreme thinking with moderate thinking. He added: “We are ready to offer all training and qualification programs for Somali students from law colleges to confront this extreme idea.”
On his part, Dr. Abdul Qadir Sheikh Ismail expressed his happiness with this meeting, praising the strong relations between Egypt and Somalia, as a result of his view to develop cooperation between Imam Al-Shafi’i University and Dar Al-Ifta Egypt.
He said: “We make sure to take advantage of the Egyptian experiences in the field of training and rehabilitation of the muftins, and we see the Egyptian Dar Ifta as a strategic partner in the face of extreme thinking.”
The President of the University also briefed the various departments of the Faculty, he pointed out the importance of promoting cooperation in the field of legal and intellectual training to combat extremism.
